The libraries are packaged in such a way that several programs which use the same library can share one copy of the library.

My question to you is this: is it worth the time and risk to consider removing these things? There are several advantages to using a redistributable. You'll notice this a lot if you're a PC gamer, especially if you get your games through Steam.
