It might be time to get back in the game and give these new technologies a try. And Java 6 is in fact no longer being 'supported' so 7 is the version you should be installing at this point unless you have legacy app concerns. You are my hero! I have the same problem where is refuses to load with Java 8 and says i need Java 6 but it doesn't work anyway.
